STEM Engagement
The FY2023 Budget requests $150.1 million for STEM Engagement. The requested money will be split between four accounts: NASA Space Grant ($57 million), Established Program to Stimulate Comp Research ($26 million), Minority University Research Education Program ($48.1 million), and Next Gen STEM ($19.1 million). The STEM Engagement function is led by the Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM). A variety of activities, products, programs, and projects make up STEM Engagement and include:[1]
- student learning opportunities
- student internships and fellowships
- educational products, tools, and platforms
- informal education and out-of-school learning activities
- strategic partnerships with organizations to expand reach and impact
- cooperative agreements to educational institutions for research and development and institutional support
- educator and faculty support
- competitive grants and cooperative agreements to educational institutions for research and development and institutional support[2]
