General Gary L. Thomas, Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps (ACMC)

The Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps (ACMC) is the second highest-ranking officer in the USMC and operates as the second-in-command for the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC). The ACMC is appointed by the President and must be confirmed by a Senate majority vote.[1]

General Gary L. Thomas assumed the duties of ACMC in June 2018. A native of Austin, Texas, he graduated from the University of Texas and was commissioned in 1984.  He previously served as the Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources.[2]
