PROGRAM EXECUTIVE OFFICE ENTERPRISE INFORMATION SYSTEMS (PEO EIS)

The U.S. Navy’s Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) was established in 2006 and oversees products related to enterprise wide information technology (IT) programs that are designed to enable common business processes and supply standard IT capabilities to U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps warfighters. [1]

GLOBAL COMBAT SUPPORT SYSTEM – MARINE CORPS (GCSS-MC)

The Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) falls under PEO EIS and also receives administrative, professional and technical, budget and contractual support from the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC). GCSS-MC, which is based in Stafford, VA, is chartered to supply integrated functionality and a logistics software demonstration evaluation.

Specifically, GCSS-MC’s mission is to improve Marine Corps combat effectiveness by providing innovative business IT to combat support by 2020. The program is tasked to deliver integrated functionality and a logistics Shared Data Environment (SDE) implemented through the maximum utilization of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) software, enterprise application integration/middle software and web portal software.[2]
